Short biography
Born in Zagreb in 1962, Sanja Čižmar earned the PhD in strategic management in hospitality industry at the Department of Economics of the University of Zagreb in 2001.
After scientific research in tourism, Sanja decided to shift her career focus to management consulting in hospitality industry and tourism. With more than 15 years of experience in consulting, Sanja joined the team of Horwath Consulting Zagreb in 1994, and since 1997 she is the partner and the managing director of Horwath Consulting Zagreb. In the period 1996-1998, Sanja was the director of Horwath Holding, ownership company – cofounder of management company "Croatian Hotels & Resorts". During the past decade, Sanja has been actively creating and implementing modern management concepts in hospitality industry and tourism business in Croatia and in the South East European region. Sanja leads the development projects in Croatian tourism. Focus of her expertise is oriented to the management of processes, organization and introduction of modern management techniques in hospitality industry in transitional economies.
Sanja is a lecturer at Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb at University of Zagreb.
She likes to spend her free time studying psychology, which is her favourite hobby.
